Group work taming the tame

Taming the Tamed

Character analysis of Fox by Antoine Saint de Exupery

Friendship can only be attained by investing love in others.

In the stories of Little Prince, there was an encounter with a fox in a certain planet. The Fox is a supporting character in the story and only serves as a foil, but its personality and its importance in the story remains important as it plays a big role in The Little Prince’s Departure while shaping the Little Prince’s personality too.

The Fox appeared out of nowhere upon its encounter with The Little Prince. The Fox later answers Little Prince’s mourning of the ordinariness of his rose, after the latter stumbled upon a rose garden. As they begin to develop friendship, the Fox imparts the Prince with the knowledge and understanding about why the Rose is so important to him, therefore serving its role as foil character, exploring more into The Little Prince and a bit of The Rose personality.

However, the Fox itself is not a simple character. Its relationship with the Prince as both mentor and student happens because of its wisdom, knowledge and loyalty. The Fox, as we might see, is an interpretation of Friendship, despite the real animal fox being a stereotype of cunning and twisted wit. However, the twist of this fact means so much, speaking of trusting others despite however they may appear or look. The Fox’s unshaken loyalty upon its taming, the Little Prince’s departure, and even enriching the Little Prince’s with necessary understanding, the Fox is but a selfless and pure caring, the true meaning of friendship. Unlike what we may experience in life, whereas friendship involves in giving and gaining, “mutual relation”, or so they say.

Finally, like any other supporting characters and the main characters in the Little Prince’s story, the Fox explores in depth about us (the readers, mankind) and our way of living. Its personality is an example of true friendship that perhaps in our life, has become so insipid and even bitter, much feared. And as we now understand, perhaps it will come back to us with some other important question:
Can friendship become more than even loyalty, trust and care? Something like an intimate love for each other?

Chapter 5 - Awaken Romance- 1 sentence pitch

1 sentence pitch: A female siren met a young man who willing to gives up his life for love but instead find death.

5th chapter - Awaken Romance

Deep down in the ocean lies a person-a person that must never be awakened.
Beyond the blue horizon, sunlight glimmer off the ripping blue. The ocean stretch in every direction from the island called Westia. In the center of the island lies a man called Cerulean, he is the source of the Pacific Ocean, also the wielder of the “Sloth Orb. In his oblivion, he can create and manipulate water source in reality. Unfortunately he must be in his eternal slumber to prevent the world from depleting its water in entirety. All along he has been sleeping alone, for almost a millennium.
Washed by the wave to Westia, a Siren named Osaris was badly injured from the pirates’ ambush. Her hometown was destroyed, and so were her family and friends. Despite being injured, she searched the island thoroughly for a place to hide from her pursuers.
Finally, she arrived at the heart of Westia, where the water was sparkling and warmth.  She then saw Cerulean, in naked, with long hair and teenage face. Out of curiosity, Osaris swam towards the man. She wanted to ask for advice but all she got was the answer of snore. She tried every method, but nothing worked. Finally, she used her melody to wake him up, a melody that was so powerful that it could even awakened the dead.
And there he awakens. The first thing that he saw was Osaris. It was love at first sight for Cerulean. Unlike other siren Osaris was the very symbolism of grace and beauty. After the explanation of the happening by Osaris, Cerulean was furious and decided to help her avenge for her civilization. By doing so he got back into his dream again.
WOOOSHHH! Tsunami races itself to the far horizon where the pirates sail just a few miles away from Forenia. The Tsunami is so strong that not even a giant can survive through it. However a certain force coming from Forenia stand against its rage, it was the “Orb of Envy”. He presses on harder to surpass the opposing power, not long the pirate had been crushed to death. However, Cerulean life had been taken away as well.
“Wake up” Osaris moaned. “Please wake up” she moaned again.  Osaris take him into her arms, bent down and lay her head on his shoulder. Even though she doesn’t want to believe it is real, she has to accept the inevitable truth. She places her last breath into a melody before placing Cerulean into a vault where no one could ever trouble him. The vault sank down to the ocean floor, the melody resounded in his mind, reviving Cerulean to his slumber state.
Many centuries had passed since then, when someone awoke him from his dream again.
The first question that comes to his mind after which is “the things that no one remembers will become things that never really existed, right? I have no memories of my past; all I can faintly remember is that warmth melody” as the first drop of tear appear on his eye.

1 sentence pitch: A curious and naïve boy set foot on the unknown world to learn about different life lesson around the world before he ended his life.

After reading the story, I felt emotional, heartwarming and affecting at the same times. The little prince was an honest and kind boy. He was also brave and curious, through his adventure I learn various lessons, and through the eyes of the little prince I learnt the important of friendship, love and the things that we had long forgotten trust.

In the story, the little prince showered his love onto the rose loving it whole heartedly without even asking for her love in return. In this it awake me from my selfish thought, the thought that giving was waiting for returning. However in here I learnt that giving was joy, by giving someone who needed more then you, in returned what you get was way more then you gave, laughter, a smile, the sound of happiness.

Through him I found a child that hidden inside of me, being curious in a creative way. I also learnt that every small thing that we do would affect a lot to the future world. Even if it was just a minor act, like reducing water, it meant a lot to the upcoming result.

Through his journey I can confidently said that each and every one of us would needed to go through this obstacles like, breakdown of relationship, family tie and friendship. It’s an experience we all must enter at some point of time. It might not always be a “sunny day” however by finding a solution to solve it other than being depressed, a rainbow would appear in the “rainy day”.

In conclusion the little prince truly captures back my memories of my childhood and also brought back the lose sight of which was really important in my life. In fact I learnt to search for the answer to every question myself, being able to experience through it, then I could greatly advanced in the search through the mistakes.

Mrs Twit

Character personality
1.       Childish
2.       Dumb
3.       Ill-bred
4.       Cold-hearted
5.       Harsh
6.       Impolite
7.       Clumsy

2.       Ugly
3.       Smelly
4.       Unpleasant
5.       Rotten

Character Action
1.        Nasty tricks
2.       Crueilty to animal

After reading the story, instead of feeling disgusted and annoyed I felt rather amazed and jubilant about the story. The use of words and phrases was easy to know by all, even though the use of word was rather rude. However, it was enjoyably naughty at the same time. The description of it actually breathed life to Mrs Twit’s character. Her movement, her look, her expression were all carefully explained. She was a nasty, horrid and whose ugliness reflects the ugliness of her hearts and definitely the top comedy character in the entire story.

Furthermore, I was amazed by the way how Mrs Twit got her revenge by playing cruel practical jokes on his husband making bird pie and being nasty to the monkey. In addition, her silly and playful characteristic brought life to the story, making it more interesting and entertaining.

The ending was hilarious and unexpected. Mrs Twit was so negative and silly. All she wanted was revenge and now she gets her retribution which was “revenge” by the animal using the same old trick that she did to them. Thus this shows that she was even stupider then the animal.

Personally, i didn’t seem to learn any lesson from it, but the difference was quite obvious, in a sense that the book was trying to convey the message of “we should be friendly to the nature if not the nature is going to take revenge on us”. Just like what is happening in our world now! If we continue our act of pollution to the nature, we will face the consequences sooner or later. In addition, a good heart will help you to a bonny face, my lad and a bad one will turn the bonniest into something worse than ugly, quoted from Emily Bronte .

Chapter 4 - The Avarice effect - 1 sentence pitch

1 sentence pitch: A female angel who in searching of the perfect orb to control over the world happened to lost herself into her greediness as she fall.

4th Chapter - The avarice effect

Title:  The Avarice effect

The orb of avarice was the burning remnant of a once beautiful angel named Dorado. She was worshipped by people and favored by the god. Her very existence was the warmth and strength of the people around. However, what she seeking for was something valuable, something more than just sentences of gratefulness and praises; something that she was still searching for, “the absolute perfection”. With that, she could finally control over the world without flattery and take off her mask as a angel.

At the beginning of the search for absolute perfection, Dorado sent forth rain of fire, pool of lava and swarm of flame to clear her way in the search for “perfection” in the west continent of the world. Even with the death of hundreds and thousands of people, her selfish dream was not shaken a bit. Without hesitation, the second wave of destruction had once again hit the mortal world. This time, unstoppable earthquake, fiery meteor and deadly cosmic ray had been summoned to crack every single piece of land into pieces. The voices of agony echoed everywhere, some were short and vain, and the other had reached even to the ears of the dead.

Surprisingly, someone had actually survived throughout these disasters, which was impossible. As Dorado made her way towards him, she greeted the mortal with enthusiasm. Indeed, the so called perfection she was searching for, was him, Odin the shaman. His eyes were made of every color from deep blues, to bright yellows to luminous reds. Odin held on to his anger as he greeted Dorado. Just when Dorado got close enough to Odin, she lunged herself toward him as she tried to take away his precious eyes. However, the attempt was futile; the eyes were a gift from a high priest named Mauve. The pair of eyes was left behind by a couple, a couple who found true love at last. It was casted with an abnormal spell which only the one who knows love, was able to control it.

Knowing that the eyes were what Dorado was seeking, Odin replied gracefully: “My eyes belong to you, my highness, if you would kindly keep them, it would be my greatest pleasure” Of course, Dorado replied arrogantly. She waited patiently, not aware of the terrible misfortune up ahead. As Odin slowly gorge out his eyes, blessed blood flowed down from his eye sockets, pain and agony filled his mind as he presented the eyes as a gift to Dorado.

The second Dorado received the eyes, she got rejected by it. The aura of the eyes act violently against her will. As she tried to force it under her control, the eyes morphed into an orb that was able to suppress Dorado. Not long after the rainbow sphere turned into a yellow orb as it sealed away Dorado and her will within it.

Even thought the shaman remained blind, he knew that he made the right decision. He held on to the “avarice orb”, and made his way to the sunder city named Alanrius.
